The Short Answer
Waikiki sunset cruises leave from a handful of harbors in and around Honolulu, not from the beach itself. The most common departure points are the Ala Wai Boat Harbor, Kewalo Basin Harbor, and the Aloha Tower Marketplace. A few cruises even include hotel pickup, so your evening starts right in Waikiki. Your confirmation will always list the exact meeting point for your boat.
Ala Wai Boat Harbor
Sitting right at the edge of Waikiki, across from the Prince Waikiki hotel, the Ala Wai Boat Harbor is the most walkable option for many visitors. If your hotel is in central Waikiki, you can often stroll there in five to ten minutes. Several catamaran and fireworks cruises depart from here.
Kewalo Basin Harbor
Kewalo Basin is about two miles west of Waikiki, near Ala Moana. It is a short rideshare or drive away, and it is home to many popular party boats, sailing catamarans, and gondola cruises. Parking near the harbor can be limited, so a rideshare is often the easiest way to arrive on time.

Aloha Tower and Hilton Hawaiian Village
Some of the larger dinner cruises leave from the historic Aloha Tower Marketplace at Honolulu Harbor, roughly 10 to 15 minutes from Waikiki, with validated garage parking on site. A few sailings board right at the Hilton Hawaiian Village on the edge of Waikiki, which makes for an easy dockside start.
Cruises With Hotel Pickup
Not every cruise leaves from a harbor near Waikiki. A few, like certain west side snorkel and dinner sails, include round trip transportation from your Waikiki hotel, so you never have to worry about driving or parking. If convenience matters most, look for a cruise that lists hotel pickup.
Getting There and Parking
A little planning makes the trip to the dock smooth:
- Rideshare is the easiest option for harbors a couple of miles from Waikiki.
- If you drive, check whether your cruise offers validated or nearby parking.
- Always arrive early, since boats leave on schedule.
Find Your Dock With Confidence
The short version is that your cruise leaves from a nearby harbor, and your booking confirmation spells out exactly where and when to check in. Read it before you head out, give yourself extra time, and the rest of the evening is pure sunset. If you are unsure which departure point is closest to your hotel, just ask and we will help you plan.
